A unity sand pouring ceremony is a modern alternative to the traditional unity candle ceremony. In this ceremony, the bride and groom (and sometimes the clergy and/or children of the couple) hold small containers filled with colored sand and take turns pouring the sand into a larger container, creating beautiful layers of colorful sand to represent the blending of their individual lives into one. This larger container then becomes a lasting keepsake of the special day.
Colored sand comes in one pound bags and is available in sixteen colors: brown, orange, royal blue, yellow, light blue, white, green, natural, lavender, purple, fuchsia, black, pink, red, teal, and emerald green.
The photograph shows a
large personalized unity sand ceremony decanter filled with layers of lavender and purple sand.
