A lot of companies selling invitations make a big deal about their “discount”. This is mostly to distract your attention from the real story . . . the bottom line! Think about it. It doesn’t really matter how much of a discount you’re getting . . . what you want to know is, bottom line, what you’re going to have to pay for your invitation order. And the nasty little secret these companies don’t want you to learn is that even with their discount . . . you end up paying more in the end!

For example, these companies often sell out of collections with marked-up prices, and they usually do not discount the entire order, but only the invitation portion. They also add on “hidden charges”, which are seldom discounted. If you want to see a typeset proof of your order (and you do, with their consistently high error rate), you may pay $40 or more for the privilege! And if you don’t, you’ll be responsible for the cost of reprinting your order if you don’t like the finished product. You’ll also be charged more if the copy you want printed exceeds their preset line limits. Interestingly enough, their limits are too low to accommodate most common wordings, resulting in extra charges for almost everybody. Shipping charges can also be very expensive. By the time all of these “extras” are added in, even a discount of 20 to 30% or more won’t bring you back down to what you should have been paying in the first place!
