Pretty pouches of candied almonds are traditionally given
to wedding guests for good luck in many Mediterranean cultures. The almonds,
which have a lengthy shelf life, represent the new marriage, which should also
be lengthy! An odd number of candies is given to symbolize the indivisibility of
the new couple. Italian and Greek families, among others, have traditionally
spent large amounts of time and money hand crafting beautiful keepsakes for
their special days.
Now at the Wedding Centre, we've made favor making easy and
affordable! Every couple wants to send their guests home with a lovely memento
of their wedding, and our wedding favors are ideal. They can be made in a wide
variety of colors to coordinate with your wedding, they can be personalized, and
they're beautiful and affordable. We sell our materials separately, so you can
create favors that are perfect for you and that fit your budget too!
We
offer many options . . . netting is available pre-cut into easy-to-use
nine-inch
scalloped circles in an impressive range of colors, and we also have
drawstring organza bags available in a dozen colors!
Favor trinkets like
miniature champagne glasses,
swans,
seashell boxes,
brandy snifters (large
and
small),
slippers,
beer mugs, and
top hats with canes can be used to
make many different kinds of favors. The swan favor shown to the upper right,
made with two layers of scalloped netting, only costs 50¢ each (not including
the candy or tying ribbon)!
Personalizing your favors is easy too. We pre-cut and foil stamp
satin favor ribbons with your names and special date for only $30.00 for 100
ribbons, with 24 colors of ribbon to choose from, and we can also print
favor tags on white or ivory card stock with your choice of copy, starting
at only $20.00 for 100 cards, pre-drilled with holes to make them easy to
attach! You might choose to print a verse, or your names and special date
together with an ornamental design. The personalized champagne glass favor shown
to the left, with two layers of scalloped netting, a miniature champagne glass,
and a foil stamped satin ribbon, only costs 75¢ each (not including the candy or
tying ribbon).
Other possibilities for fun and festive favors include small
bottles of
bubbles and little
favor bells with real clappers. Used by themselves, decorated with
miniature roses,
pearl sprays,
tie-ons, or wrapped in
netting, these items add a special touch to your
wedding. Or maybe you'd prefer our
heart-handled favor boxes, foil stamped with your choice of design and your
names and special date! You can put treats directly inside these boxes, or drop
in a netting favor for a splash of color.
You can plan to make one favor for each guest and place them by
the dinner plates, or make one favor for each couple and display them in a
pretty basket or bowl next to your guest book or cake table. A very cordial way
of distributing the favors is for the newly married couple to circulate among
their guests after dinner, and pass them out as they greet people. In
combination with floating or taper candles, bowls and mirrors or hurricane
holders (both of which are available for rental in our West Allis, Wisconsin
store), your favors will also make great centerpieces! Favors are also a nice
addition to your bridal shower or rehearsal dinner.
